CD Mix Challenge

1) A favorite political track.
The song that jumps into my head whenever I think of politically charged music is Fight the Power - Public Enemy

Shining Star - The Manhattans; my wife and I consider this to be "our song".

5) A song that you like, that a two year old would like as well.

Step Into A World (Rapture's Delight) - KRS One

Telephone Man - New Edition, anything by them brings back fond memories of my teen years.

You're All I Need To Get By - Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrel; I thought Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell were fantastic together.

Dear Mama - Tupac, always makes me remember growing up with my moms (BTW, she was NEVER a crack fiend)

Fast Lane - Bilal, I know, it's not brand new, but I never get tired of it.

Whew! That was hard work! It did take me down memory lane alot (good and bad memories), thanks to Nikki for bringing King's list to my attention!

I really like your pics and you show a lot of variety here. Growing up I absolutely LOVED Public Enemy and New Edition. Maxwell's "This Woman's Work" (tho it's not an original) was also superbly done.

-hmm I wasn't too political until I met you honey so can't really pick one here.

-If at first you don't succeed (think that's the title, sorry) by Aaliyah...I used to play that in my room and dance to it and then my mom would always walk in and it would irritate the heck outta me

-aww babe, we gotta play that on our anniversary

-Little girl by Mary Mary, it's about a girl's self-esteem so i can also relate

-Real Love by Mary J. Blige

-Blue Moon written in 1934, not sure who originally sang it but the Elvis Presley version is pretty good..my grammy really loved this song and I would sing it for her

8) A song that you really liked when you were 14-16, and still really like now
- "because I love you" by Stevie B. I just liked the sound of this song, it of course was out before the time I was that age but I listened to it at the time a lot..I dunno if I like it now though but if it were on I'd have to listen to it just for memory sake

9) A sad song that would be in the soundtrack of the movie about your life.
-Sullen girl by Fiona Apple, at a very low point in my life I could relate to her music a lot and this song was the one I listened to most often

10) A peppy song that would start the opening credits of the movie about your life.
- Stomp by Kirk Franklin, I dunno that's the only song that came to mind

11) A good song from a genre of music that no one would guess that you liked.
-When you say nothing at all by Alison Krauss, it's a really sweet, simple song...and she's actually got a lot of good country songs on that CD

-Isn't she lovely by Stevie Wonder..hey I was cute.

13) A favorite artist duo collaboration.
-I used to love him by Lauryn Hill & Mary J. Blige, both powerful female vocalists on one track..gotta love that

-Mrs.Robinson by Simon Garfunkel, people always sing this to me because I *am* "Mrs. Robinson" and then I tell them.. "do you know what that song is about?!" I used to think it was a cute song because it would say Jesus loves you and stuff but no!

-Tequila by The Champs...it reminds me of that Pee Wee Herman movie, just silly.

- Kiss of life by Sade, actually any of her songs, love her.

-You can't touch this by MC Hammer haha..I don't know!

-same here boo boo..that's *my* song hehe

-Shout by Tears for fears because it reminds me of my brother making fun of it and singing "fart, fart..let it all out" instead of "shout" hehe..

-God reigns by somebody? I don't know who originally wrote it or sang it but it's a beautiful worship song
