Gang Bangers in the US Military Forces

This is pretty shocking to hear. As if the military doesn't have enough to think about. There is also an interesting article here (Suntimes).

Looks like our armed forces are somewhat loose about who they decide to hire. Now gangs have the penal institutions and the military to use for their own brand of "higher education". God help the neighborhoods these people are from when they return ready to use their new found skills to inflict harm.

BF,

I joined the military in 1989. There were gang members serving then. This is nothing new.

This is pretty shocking, didnt know anything about gang members joining the military to use their tactics. Pretty sick stuff, but you cant blame the military for who signs up, after all even if a recruit is a gang member, for all the military knows he could be joining to escape the gang life, not so he can learn ambush and survival tactics. Glad you posted this tho, very intriguing.

Much ado about nothing. The only difference between this, and Sammy Gravano/Henry Hill/or the Ice Man (who's name escapes me) is that gang life hasn't been made into a good glorifing movie, a la Godfather or Goddfellas.

As James stated, this is nothing new. I bet a few Dead Rabbits from the 1800's were vets.
